So I came across with this quote of Mother Teresa on a calendar, "To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it. ~ Mother Teresa "
I guess this could very well explain why we all always tell others to 加油加油!Our lives are like the lamp, we gotta keep adding oil in it to keep the flame alive!
加油,黄钰庭!加油,Jack! (inspired by Fated to Love You)
I can tell that this semester is gonna be a tough one for me. Man, I have lots of catch-ups to do! Dunno why suddenly feel very motivated despite failing to register Econ Theory as my elective. haha but how long will I stay motivated? We'll see. lol
It's funny how on the last day of add/drop period only I got to sit down and see and think what I want to add for electives. After spending hours playing with the Star Planner, I ended up getting French and Intro to Psychology! These 2 weren't what I planned to take but well they like me so what to do? lol...
Week 2 of this sem is like one of my busiest week ever but somehow I enjoyed my busyness. lol...The bad thing is I didn't get to do any tutorials. I think I need to learn how to manage my time better.
Among memorable things that happend this week:
On Wednesday, Buddhist Society set up booths for our CIA project to raise fund for Alzheimer Disease Association. My director, Chin Keat put in a lot of effort and I kind of felt bad for not contributing more. Thanks to all who supported CIA 2009. :) Later in the evening, I got to go to SRC to watch the awesome inter-hall. Kudos to all the cheerleaders who trained damn hard for the competition and gave us a great show! Despite not being able to win again this year, Hall 8 cheerleading team rocks!
Genie Zuo Wen Xuan mini concert on Thursday! Argh..I missed it for the first "I Gave" meeting. >.< But hor, other than the romeo/juliet song she sings with Gary, I never got to listen to her songs. From what I heard and from the video posted on FB, Teck Hong rocked in the concert! Funny sial!
Then on Friday, Tian Long came all the way from Australia to Changi to NTU to visit Joseph, me and the campus. It has been almost one year since I last saw him. So it was great to meet him in NTU. :) Later in the evening, I went out to Geylang and Chinatown with Hall 8 residents. It was a great outing. 60++ people invaded the chong qing steamboat shop in Geylang. lol... The seafood there was not bad, at least better than what I had in Malacca lor. We headed to Chinatown after the steamboat, the deco there is very nice. At least it reminded me how close we're to Chinese New Year, unlike any other places in Singapore where I can't really feel that CNY is coming.
On Saturday morning, Buddhist Society organised a sub-comm outing for us, the little sub-commers. We played crazily on Siloso Beach, Sentosa! Woo hoo, no raining this time! (Last time I went there during orientation camp, it rained and we couldn't continue playing beach games. >.<) Thank you NTUBS for the outing. <3 After coming back from Sentosa, I went to Hall 7 with fellow Kokuians to give Suk Yee a surprised bday celebration. Haha, was she stunned! Happy birthday, Suk Yee! :)
That's the hightlight of the week for me. Here's to hope for another fun week ahead. And yea can't wait to go back to Malacca on Saturday! Arh...haha I can start emoing anytime from now when you mention anything bout Malacca and family-related stuff. Hmm...gotta start contacting my friends to arrange plans to visit teachers' houses lor. ^_^Woo hoo, I wanna play mahjong neh!

Totally Messed Up
Gosh! Just like that the first week of Semester 2 is gone! And it's pretty screwed up. Can you imagine playing pool, Contact Bridge and then Risk from like 9pm till 9 am in the morning? My body can't stand it anymore lo. It took hours to end the game for Risk. Eventually Sebastian, Yik Hua and I teamed up to kill off Gwo Shiou's troops. LOL...crazy but fun also la but I won't ever want to play like this again.
I kept myself busy with all those non-academic things. I wonder when will I finish watching all 80 episodes of "The Gem of Life"? It's a nice drama. Sometimes certain scenes made me miss my family. LOL...
Then after putting a lot of efforts in planning and setting up the game, my fourth online survivor game has finally started today! The players in the game are crazily active. I can tell that they all are figthing hard to win the game. Hopefully everything in $urvivor 4: India will go smoothly. It's gonna be very interesting to watch them fighting online. wahaha...*evil laugh*
I started working as a student assistant in a small library in NTU since this week. I am scheduled to work for like 4 hours a week, which is just nice. I won't want to work for too many hours and neglect other stuff completely. I kinda like working there not only because it earns me extra pocket money but also because the staff there are all being very nice to me and other libralians. :)
To sum it up, my first week of Sem 2 was too messed up. I gotta learn how to manage my time properly and try my best to lead a healthy lifestyle. Well, at least I will try to try. :p

My Life Would Suck Without You...
My life would suck without computer + internet + mobile phone.
My life would suck without family and friends whom I enjoy hanging out with.
Haha actually this random post is to express my excitement over the release of Kelly Clarkson's first single of her fourth album on 19th January! It's gonna rock our socks. LOL woo...Go Kelly!

Exam Results
So in like another 3 more minutes, I gotta face the reality. Gosh! First sem exam results are coming out and I would be lying if I tell you I ain't nervious about it. Though I keep telling myself not to be bothered so much by the results but I still care how I did in exams.
Anyway, I have already promised myself not to tell others my results (want some privacy) and not to ask my coursemates' results. This is to avoid any form of annoying comparison in this kiasuland.
Well good luck to myself. I really need it! Please...
Edited for follow-up:
Gosh! Epic fail! I can't keep my own promise. :( Eventually in like less than 24 hours, I gave in. Too much temptation and I couldn't resist it! After listening to what some friends said, I changed my perspective. If people care enough to ask you your results you should be honoured to tell them how you did. It has nothing to do with kiasuness la. haha
My feeling towards my results this time is quite different. Not excited not depressed not happy not sad. Just no feeling. It's probably because I have learned how to accept it, good or bad.
Like in any other exams we have had before, some people would be very happy with their results and some not so. I'm happy for my friends who did well. Congrats. At the same time, I feel bad too to see my friends not happy with their grades. I ain't good in consoling people. I guess the more I talked the more I might offend others. Luckily unlike SPM/STPM, we still have a lot of chances to better our cgpa. Let's all just work harder to archieve our goals in the next semester. ^_^

My December
Who doesn't love December? Relaxing, enjoying holidays and hanging out with friends/family <3
It's really that fast. 2008 is ending and there are various top 10 ____ in 2008 lists everywhere to reflect on remarkable things that happened in 2008. I'm gonna have one too later, if I manage to come out with 10 things haha. Oh to compose a top 10 list isn't that easy. Scratch it off, lazy to think lor. LOL
I have been enjoying my first sememter break. I indulge myself to do anything I like without any restrictions and second thoughts. Freedom <3 lol...But it's kinda depressing to realise that I have almost reached the end of the holidays and gonna go back to the reality of life. Whatever lar...here is a wish to have a fruitful year ahead and I can continue to make myself a better man. ^_^
Happy New Year, everyone. xD

4 months and I am still...
It has been 4 months since I stepped foot on this little red dot. In a blink of an eye, my first ever semester in NTU has come to an end. Time really flies by quickly. It never stops to wait for me. -_-"'
First sem is over! I ought to act a bit emo, right? lol...Time for reflection on what I have done to my little life.
Have I changed? Essentially nothing has changed in these 4 months. I am still the same old guy that is annoyingly talkative (yes I know I can't shut my mouth up) and is still hooked on his fav tv shows. Yea, I still feel sleepy all the time even if I have slept for way more than 8 hours a day. And I still do things by following my heart instead of my mind, which equals to being irrational and emotional.
In one way, I'm glad that I stay true to myself and be happy most of the time, but in another way, I hate myself for not being self-disciplined and focus on my study. I either was late for classes or just skipped them. I can barely sit still for more than 5 minutes to read academic stuff. Arrr...how many times have I told myself to get rid of my bad habits? Well, I guess it won't be considered a bad habit if it could be gotten rid off easily. lol...Well, I swear I will try harder next sem. We'll see.
Believe me, when it comes to study, I am capable of giving myself tons of reasons not to study, even during the freaking exam period. Excuses after excuses... I feel bad sometimes because I promised my family that I would change to be more serious and hardworking in NTU. Liar! It wasn't my intention to lie though. :p Who doesn't want to be successful? But then, define success for me.
Stop writing on your boring higher education. Urghh...Give yourself a #$%@!$* break. Yay! 5-week sem break. I couldn't be more grateful. Overall, my life here in NTU is really fun but a bit stressful at times. Still, I prefer my comfortable home in Malacca. Staying in hostel makes me realise how much love my parents dedicate to me. My siblings are jealous of me as they claim that my parents (especially my dad) dote on me, the youngest son. I didn't agree with them at all but now my opinion is swayed more towards their side. Hahaha it isn't my fault to be adorable, is it? *blushes* *pukes* :p
Talking about things that make me happy - TV shows. Hehe, I like that a lot of my friends are fans of Prison Break and Heroes. It's fun watching movies together. And yes, I am not the only one who is crazy over Survivor and to a lesser extent, Amazing Race.
I never get bored watching Survivor and Amazing Race even though most people think they're repetitious. They are not. Survivor keeps topping itself for the last 3 seasons. You thought it could never get better and the production team of Survivor prove you wrong. The latest season, Survivor 17: Gabon has been very entertaining. I would definitely encourage people to watch its awesomeness. It's very interesting to see how people interact with one another. Love the revealing human nature, as well as the untouched mother nature. Gabon is really beautiful. As for Amazing Race, I got to learn some geography and it's always entertaining to watch the meltdown of some racers under the pressure of the competition. There are reasons why this show won the Emmy for 6 consecutive years. What a feat!
I just finished watching the latest episode of Prison Break (Season 4 Episode 12). Love this episode from top to bottom. This quote from T-Bag is meaningful: "We are captives of our own identities, living in prisons of our own creation." I think he is trying to say that somehow we're being stuck in an imaginary prison of our own. You wanna break free? Dream on!
Vacation is love. More and more friends are leaving campus with their luggage and this place is getting creepily silent. Seeing others leaving with the smile on their faces kind of makes me want to get back home immediately. Well, just another 3 more days it'd be my turn to say bye bye to NTU (though it's just a temporary good-bye). Hope everyone has a fruitful amazing vacation! Plus, Christmas and 2009 are coming. How exciting! ^_^

Random Thoughts
Some random thoughts ran through my mind while studying macroeconomic just now in the library. what the...Why can't I focus on studying for more than 5 minutes? Well, mugging book is damn sien lor.
Random Thought #1:
It is not about how long you stay alive, but how you live your life!
Random Thought #2:
It is not about how well you have done something, but how much have you enjoyed doing it.
Random Thought #3:
Although I have never won anything in lucky draws, I can't believe how lucky I have been. I am so blessed with great family, friends and health. Suddenly feel thankful of everything which is rare for me! lol...
Random Thought #4:
What have I contributed to my family and to a larger extent, the society, the freaking world? Hmm...little to none. I'm good for nothing. Oops! I must jia you jia you and jia you. I mean like, most of the time I'm at the receiving end of love and kindness. I should do more to give back. :)
Random Thought #5:
Learning for knowledge is fun and exciting but sadly that is not the case for studying for exam.
Random Thought #6:
Remind myself not to miss SAW V and HSM3. kakakaka

Life is Crazy
Well, it's kinda a neat idea to blog once every month just to post my monthly update. Haha...A lot of stuff happened for the past month. It's been pretty wild and crazy. I just need to find a balance for everything but it's not an easy task, sial.
I like pretty much all my new friends met in Singapore but at the same time kinda miss the old good times in secondary school lor. How I wish I could stop time and travel back to the past like Hiro. Haha...
One exciting news: I earned my first income in Singapore yesterday. Damn exciting that I actually received 20 bucks for doing an incomplete survey. NBS, I love you. :p
For those who care, I am doing just fine. :)
P/S: Happy birthday to all the October babies.

Sunday Morning
Everything happens for a reason. But you don't really have to know why, do you? The bottom line is, I must have faith in my own self. ^^
Btw, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....mid-term exam? Study for exam, exam for study, whatcha gonna do about it?
TV! Prison Break 4 is back! Woo hoo! The first three episodes were so thrilling. Yea its plot is ridiculous but once you learned how to embrace its ridiculousness, you would know how entertaining Prison Break is. Afterall, it's just a TV programme.
Another 3 of my fav TV shows are coming back during my recess week: Survivor 17, Heroes 3 and Amazing Race 13. The wait is killing me!!!
On another note, happy belated birthday to Malaysia. MSA's Merdeka Night rocked! I never had so much fun counting down for Merdeka. LOL...What is going to happen in another 2 more days in Malaysia? Oh the suspense! It is one hell of a psychological warfare, isn't it? Fantastic! I shall not go further into this because I am so damn scared of something called "Ai Ass Ei" le. Pfft! Shhh...
Video sharing websites like Youtube and Tudou are among my list of most visited websites. This particular live performance of "Hear Me" is beyond wonderful.
Let's bow down to Kelly Clarkson, just like how this woman in the pic did! :)

Friday <3
Friday has always been my favorite day of the week for several reasons.
Yea, I can't wait to go back to Melaka tomorrow morning to meet my family and friends.
So I'm going home, to the place where I belong, where the love has always been enough for me. xD
Steady...

A "Rojak" Post
Oh yea it's a nice feeling to be healty again after having been sick for 2 weeks. ^-^
It's past 4 am already and I still haven't let my laptop take a rest. Haha...
I have bought a new prepaid Hi Card (again!). +6594659881 is my new contact number in Singapore. Feel free to contact me. xD
Hmm...I miss delicious food in Melaka. Once I go back, I must go to eat Satay Celup, Satay, O-Jien, Jonker's Laksa, Cendol, etc. Damn, mentioning food makes me feel hungry now.
Beijing Olympic: Spectacular opening ceremony! China did a great job! Now they're leading with 21 golds. US with 10 golds and South Korea with 6.
Good luck to Lee Chong Wei. He has such a bright chance of getting at least a bronze! Don't disappoint us! Michael Phelps, one of the greatest Olympians, is the God of swimming! He dominates the water cube like no other. People like him are insane! All his hard work paid off really well. Well, to gain something, you have to sacrifice certain things. As of now, I think what I need includes confidence, motivation and determination!
When I have time to think, I will start asking myself a lot of "why" questions.
Just like what a lot of people have been asking me: "Of all places, why did you choose to come to NTU?", "Why are you in NTU?"
Then, recently I have been thinking, why are people chasing money so badly? Being $$ rich = success? Being $$ rich = happiness? I mean, why we are all so materialistic and realistic? Why must I have big dream, like it's something bad if I'm not ambitious? Why people demand so many things? Why we are always not satisfied with what we have? Why must we make life so complicated? I want a simple happy-go-lucky life, may I? Can I? Why are people aiming to score perfect in their exam? Why some people must study medicine? Why should I care? Arrr...so many "why"s? Sorry o... Why so serious? Haha...but can anyone tell me your answers to my questions?
Should I just don't care or think so much, just follow the flow and let things go naturally? I really need some sources for motivation. I guess it's the way how you look at it. I don't feel like I have to be rich to enjoy life. I won't mind if someone donate money to me though :p. But as lazy as I am, I am not motivated to work hard and put in any effort into serious stuff. I just want to be myself, sleep as much as I wish and do whatever I want to do. There is no need for me to do anything in order to impress others. During interview, typically the interviewer will ask you what you have achieved in life. For me, I feel like I haven't really achieved anything special. Then it leads me into thinking: Why should/must I achieve something? If I don't achieve anything great, does it mean I'm a lousy and useless piece of shit? Why can't I just be myself, enjoying life to the fullest? I really don't mind being an ordinary person with a simple but fun life.
Ei....I think I'm a bit lost in direction right now. Okay, try to think positively la. When I'm in bad mood, I'll remind myself everything happens for a reason. Like, my parents brought me to this world for a reason. I am living on this planet for a reason. While writing all this unsystematic post, I have found 2 decent goals of my life. It's not always about me as the Earth doesn't revolve around me. I'm here. I'm here to make this world a better place. I'm here to contribute something useful to the beloved family and also the society.
I'm done mumbling. Night night! Zzzzz......

A streak of bad luck
Wow...this is unbelievable. I lost my beloved k800i handphone yesterday evening at the SRC swimming pool. It was my second visit to the pool. Just like everyone else, I put my belongings on the cabinet.
After taking a bath, I realised my bag was still there but my phone went missing. -_- Luckily I didn't bring out my whole wallet and I didn't do top up to my phone. And more luckily, there was no naked photo stored in the phone memory card. LOL...
Well, to think positively, it's time for a change. As lame as it may sound, it's fated to change phone.
Lesson learnt, be extra careful even if you're on campus. As the popular NTU saying goes, "low crime doesn't mean no crime"!
My ex-mobile number: +65 83590128 is no longer available. It's useless to try to call or sms me. I'll update y'all once I get a new number. :)
P/S: Singhel prepaid hi card line reception really sucks. Now I know why there were so many customers calling the cust care centre to complain. -_-

Sick
I have been sick for more than 1 week already, still haven't got any sign of recovery. Hopefully I can get well very soon and never fall sick again in the next 4 years. I wish la. I realise I didn't get sick in the past 2 or 3 years le. That's quite a nice record for me.
Now that I'm sick, my handphone and my laptop join the bandwagon. -_- They're causing a lot of problems to me too. Damn it!
And actually hor, I feel a bit homesick too le, wondering how my parents are doing in Melaka. They must be happy though because they can live peacefully without me being at home. Haha..that's what they told me but I know for sure they miss me too. :p Hahaha...I've got a thick face.
Anyway, I'm glad I have met some awesome people in NTU. I have made some nice friends here too. People around me have been so nice to me, I feel paiseh le. Yea, I am blessed. ^_^
Tomorrow term starts. I'll have my very first lecture on 3.30pm. I feel anxious about and I will have to add at least 2 more modules during add/drop period. Hope everthing will turn out okay for me. :)

I'm loving it! :)
So I've been in NTU for 10 days. That's quick!
According to a counselling talk, I'm still in the honeymoon stage of my uni life. I guess so as things are pretty exciting and new here. The environment and the people around me have been so nice to me.
I love freedom. I love independence. Yay! Merdeka...merdeka...merdeka! But still, I miss my family and friends in Melaka.
Another good news: I have finally gotten a roomie yesterday. Guess who? It's Joseph! Woot. I'm so glad that he has finally decided to come here. It's a correct correct correct choice. xD
For those who are asking, I'm doing fine in Singapore. Don't worry. :)

Slack
See, I knew it. I'm so 三分钟热度! Haha...I wanted to blog on a lot of stuff but instead of typing out my thoughts, I spent my time playing games, watching TV shows, eating and sleeping. -_-
For those who care, I am doing fine but too bad, my 8-month holiday is coming to an end. I'm getting more and more anxious now to go to SingaPOOR. Urgh...how many days I'm left with. Another 4 days and I still a lot of things to settle/pack. Why am I always so last-minute? It's a bad habit that is hard to get rid of. >.<
I have been staying in Melaka/Malaysia for the first 20 years of my life. Finally on last last Sunday (6th July) I got to travel overseas! Where? Singapoor. -_- It wasn't that bad. I went shopping with my sisters, my cousin and their friends. Food was delicious but of course they're super expensive.
A lot of things are on my mind right now. Dunno how to express them systematically. So just forget about it. I don't want to make myself miserable with writing craps. LOL
Peace out!

Random Notes
Pak Lah Lah is falling down, falling down. o_0
IPTA admission results are out. I'm happy for my friends who mostly got offer to study in UM, UTM, UPM and USM. ^_^ I myself am offered to read Computer Engineering @ UTM. Hmmm...it's tempting! Many people are telling me to just study in local uni so that I won't need to suffer and can continue being happy-go-lucky...Making a decision sometimes could be so bothersome. Grrrr....
Anyway, after much consideration, I still stick by my decision to study Mathematical Science in NTU no matter what. No pain no gain? Perhaps...XD

Dramas
Yesterday was such a dramatic day for me.
I always love to watch dramas on TV and sometimes I feel like dramas in real-life are even more entertaing to watch. I guess that is the main reason why I'm more into Reality TV shows than scripted shows. lol...
Dramas are entertaining to watch (or listen to) but certainly they aren't as entertaining when you get involved in them. There are ups and downs in our lives. We all enjoy the ups but not the downs, right? Yesterday was definitely my down time. I don't like it but I had to deal with whatever craps I was thrown at.
I just realise that it seems like I got myself into dramas more than anyone. Is it because I am a jackass that tends to pick fights with people? Yea I guess so. 0_o...As a typical Geminian, I am outspoken and emotional. I don't hide my feelings and I do share my thoughts with my close friends and family. If you're someone I care about, I will directly tell what I feel or think. I am aware that sometimes things that I said may hurt people's feelings but that is never my intention. The thing is, I prefer to be straighforward just to get my points delivered. I don't like to bend my words. But wait, I think I am just not skilful enough to find the balance in between. I always come off as either harsh or satirical. I find that I have difficulty to express myself fully, probably because me = complexity.
Well, after all it's up to the listener to interpret my words and I respect the fact that everyone holds different opinions. We all are unique individuals, aren't we?
Funny though, people like to discuss and argue on stupid things. I respect other's opinions and I appreciate people expressing their feelings to me in all seriousness.
Here is an open message to a dear friend of mine: As far as I'm concerned, it's totally rude and offensive for you to tell me you would flip your middle finger if I were in front of you due to the difficulty that I had caused to you. I have already apologized to you for the inconvenience caused. What else do you want me to do? I sincerely hope you don't simply flip the bird at anyone. To a lot of people, it's not just an expression, dude. Trust me, I had a bad experience in regard to this. And you know, there must be plenty other ways to let your anger off.
There were so many dramatic events happened yesterday. The scariest one is to receive the call from my dad. He fell off the road in Ong Kim Wee. But thank God, he is alright now. Someone has just reminded me yesterday was father's day. Oops! Happy Father's Day to my papa. :)

Honeymoon
Now that I have become jobless, I can enjoy the time of my life. ^_^
Yay! Finally I can fully enjoy my holidays. It wont' be for long though since I have to leave for Singapore on 21st July.
Yesterday, I had such a great time in Sagil with Alvin, Jiun Shyong, Seng Kiat and Weng Khong. Later in the afternoon, we went to sing at GoGo KTV. After singing several songs horribly, I literally collapsed on the sofa. -_- I was so exhausted after staying awake for the past 30 hours. All I needed was sleeping. Zzzz...
2 reflections on my outing:
1) No matter how great your camera is, you can't fully capture the beauty of mother earth. You gotta see it with your own eyes.
2) Looking at the rocks, the waterfall, the sea and the sky reminded me the vastness of universe. I feel so small and vulnerable. Anyway, I know the journey of my life is a long and winding road. Just gotta be strong to live a wonderful life. ^_^
Things to do during this honeymoon include:
1) Follow the hilarous BBUK9 show. I'm rooting for Katreya, Luke, Rachel and Rex to win. It's so sad though to see Steph getting evicted over Mario. Damn the UK public!
2) Host my third $urvivor online game. :)
3) Take photo, apply for passport, hostel and SOLAR by the deadline.
4) Help to finish my mum's book-keeping job. >.<

Bye Singhel
Oh ever since I left Sudong (aka Singhel) I thought I may have more time to blog but turned out I was wrong. I spent most of my time sleeping and watching TV shows instead. :p
Overall, working as a Customer Care Officer in Sudong for the past 6 months (18/12/07-09/06/08) is a wonderful job experience. Nope, I ain't being sarcastic. I like the experience that I have gone through, friends that I have met, stuff that I have learned and also dramas that I have witnessed. Not to mention, salary-wise, it's way better than my previous part-time job. Hehe...
Even though sometimes I felt miserable working in Singhel and I bitched at a lot of things, I still find that it's quite enjoyable to work there. If any juniors are looking for a part-time job post SPM/STPM, I would definitely recommend them to work there. ^_^
